Forty completed games across 12 leagues gave the weekend a clear NBA center and a wider international frame. Houston won from the arc, San Antonio owned the glass, Memphis turned its passing into a 31-point win, and the ACB and NBL supplied their own sharp contrasts.
The results did not settle on one NBA formula. The Rockets and Spurs found separation through different parts of the box score, Memphis paired its passing with efficient shooting, and Philadelphia won the weekend's tightest NBA game by protecting the ball. Beyond the NBA, Spain offered one four-point finish beside two large road wins, while Australia's NBL shifted from a split Saturday to a Sunday visitor victory.
NBA control took more than one form
Houston's three-point gap shaped its October 31 win. The Houston Rockets hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder and won 119-98, making 18 of 41 threes, 44%, to Oklahoma City's 10 of 32, 31%. Houston also recorded 29 assists to the Thunder's 20, then finished with 10 turnovers against 14 for the visitors. The outside shooting was the most visible difference, but the passing and ball security gave the result more than one foundation.
San Antonio took a different route against Minnesota. The San Antonio Spurs hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 31 and won 121-111, collecting 49 rebounds to Minnesota's 38 and recording nine blocks to the visitors' two. San Antonio also made 10 of 27 three-pointers, 37%, compared with Minnesota's nine of 33, 27%. Houston's advantage began beyond the arc; San Antonio's combined edge on the glass and at the rim made its win look less like a shooting contest.
Those were two home victories with distinct statistical signatures. Houston assisted more baskets and gave the ball away less often while building a large perimeter advantage. San Antonio won the rebounding count by 11 and the block count by seven, so Minnesota had to solve a different problem from the one Oklahoma City faced.
Memphis made its passing count
Sacramento Kings hosted the Memphis Grizzlies on October 31, and the visitors won 136-105, the weekend's widest NBA margin. Memphis handed out 30 assists to Sacramento's 25, and the extra ball movement arrived alongside a major shooting gap: the Grizzlies made 19 of 38 threes, 50%, while the Kings made 11 of 38, 29%. Memphis also held a 45-33 edge in rebounds.
That combination explains why the 31-point final was not just a story of one hot column. Sacramento attempted the same number of threes as Memphis, but made eight fewer, while the Grizzlies also finished with five more assists and 12 more rebounds. The result joined shot-making to the work of creating and finishing possessions.
Philadelphia won by keeping its possessions
The Philadelphia 76ers hosted the Charlotte Hornets on October 31 and won 109-104. Philadelphia committed eight turnovers to Charlotte's 18, a ten-turnover gap that outweighed the Hornets' advantages in rebounds, 38-35, and blocks, eight to three. The 76ers also recorded 11 steals, compared with four for Charlotte.
The five-point margin makes this a useful counterweight to Memphis's blowout. Charlotte had more rebounds and blocks, but Philadelphia protected its possessions more carefully and came away with the result. The 76ers made 14 of 35 threes, 40%, while the Hornets made 14 of 38, 37%, a modest shooting edge alongside the much larger difference in turnovers.
Spain's wide road wins met an NBL change of direction
The ACB's October 31 results contained both a close finish and two clear road wins. Tenerife fell 93-89 at home, while Murcia won 125-98 on the road and Basket Zaragoza took a 107-78 road victory. The four-point finish sat opposite visitor margins of 27 and 29, giving the Spanish slate a sharper edge than the close game alone suggested.
Australia's NBL changed its pattern across the two dates. Perth hosted Illawarra Hawks on October 31, and the visitors won 105-98, while Melbourne United hosted Cairns Taipans and won 113-97. On November 1, South East Melbourne hosted Tasmania JackJumpers, who took a 98-89 road win. The weekend therefore moved from one home win and one road win on Saturday to another visitor result on Sunday.
Across the 40 finals, the strongest stories came from different kinds of advantage rather than a common theme. Houston stretched the floor, San Antonio controlled the glass, Memphis combined assists with accurate shooting, and Philadelphia kept its turnover count low enough to survive a close game. The ACB and NBL widened the frame with scorelines that moved from four-point finishes to road margins of 27 and 29.
